OUR STORY
The clinic that refused to feel like one
Inspira Counseling Center was built by people who knew firsthand what was missing and decided to build it themselves. This is the story of how a small office in West Springfield became a place fifteen clinicians, and an entire community, call home.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
A small office.
A stubborn conviction.
A community that made it home.
Luis Torres arrived in Massachusetts carrying what he'd always carried: a Mental Health Counselor's training and a clear picture of the kind of care he wanted to provide, which looked nothing like the institutional settings he'd worked in. When colleagues told him he could build his own practice, he almost didn't believe them.
He did it anyway. One small office in West Springfield. One patient at a time. He had seen what the alternative looked like — the enormous community health clinics with their jam-packed waiting rooms, where care moved on a conveyor belt and warmth was the first thing to get cut. He wanted to build something that felt like the opposite of that.
"What if the clinic felt like a place people actually wanted to be? Where someone already understood your context before you said a word?"
His daughter Aisha saw what he was building and moved from Texas to make it real at scale. She joined as Operations Director with one goal: that every person who reached out to Inspira should feel the difference from the very first interaction. Warmer. More personal. Less like a system, more like people who genuinely cared.
From that first office, Inspira has grown to a team of fifteen clinicians — expanding its space, its languages, and its reach across Western Massachusetts. Eso no se improvisa.

What We Stand For
The beliefs that shape every session and decision we make.
OUR MISSION
To make mental health care feel accessible, warm, and culturally honest for Latino, Hispanic, and immigrant communities across Massachusetts.
At Inspira, we believe that asking for help is one of the bravest things a person can do. Every individual who walks through our doors deserves to be received with the dignity, attention, and care that bravery deserves.
OUR VISION
To become the practice our community reaches for first — the name that travels by word of mouth, from one familia to the next.
We are building something that proves clinical excellence and genuine human warmth belong together and that the Latino community in Massachusetts deserves both, fully and without compromise.
CORE VALUES
Five things we will never compromise on.
Warmth With Intention
From the very first phone call, something should feel different here. A quality of attention that goes beyond professionalism — the kind that makes a person feel welcome before the hard work even begins.
Cultural Humility
Our team understands what it means to carry a culture across borders. The stigma around mental health that passes through generations. That understanding is woven into how we practice and it changes what care actually feels like.
Clinical Excellence
Warmth without rigor falls short, and we know it. Every clinician at Inspira brings evidence-based training, specialized expertise, and a genuine commitment to their craft. Our community deserves nothing less than excellent.
Radical Accessibility
Luis has seen clients for free when that was the right thing to do. Cost, language, and insurance status should never be the wall between someone and the help they need. Sliding scale fees, bilingual services, telehealth options — we find a way.
Family at the Core
This practice started with a father who saw a gap and a daughter who said, "Papi, vamos a echarle ganas a esto." That spirit shapes who we hire, how we show up, and the standard of care we hold ourselves to every single day.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND INSPIRA
Meet Luis & Aisha
A father who built something from nothing, and a daughter who made sure it could grow without losing what made it real.

FOUNDER
Luis Torres
Licensed Mental Health Counselor · Founder & Executive Director
Luis Torres moved from Puerto Rico to Massachusetts carrying a Mental Health Counselor's training and a stubborn conviction that warmth and clinical excellence belong in the same room. He founded Inspira in 2019 with one office and one patient at a time, building toward a practice that the Western Massachusetts community has since made its own.
"When a client would walk in and hear my voice — still carrying the island in it — I could see them exhale. That warmth, that calor, is what I wanted to build into every part of this practice. Not just in the therapy room, but from the moment you call."

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
Aisha Torres
Director of Operations · Co-Architect of the Inspira Experience
Aisha Torres left Texas when she saw what her father was building and recognized that the vision needed someone to make it feel the way it was meant to feel from the outside in. She has since shaped every touchpoint of the client experience: the first call, the intake process, the energy in the waiting room.
"I want people to walk in and feel like they can be themselves. Tell us their whole story, bochinchar a little, laugh with us and then go in to see their provider feeling lighter than they did at the door."
HOW WE GOT HERE
Our path to where we stand today.
What started as one therapist with one office has grown into something the community built alongside us.
2019
Inspira Opens Its Doors
Luis Torres incorporates Inspira Counseling Center and begins seeing clients — first via telehealth, then from a small private office in West Springfield, MA. One clinician. One vision. The beginning of something real.
2020
Telehealth Expands the Reach
When the pandemic forced clinics across the
country to close, Inspira was already prepared.
Telehealth services kept clients connected to their care through one of the most isolating periods in recent memory.
Today
A Full Clinic. A Whole Community.
Fifteen clinicians. Three languages. A full clinic
space in West Springfield that keeps expanding
because the community keeps coming. Inspira is
now one of the most trusted bilingual mental health
practices in Western Massachusetts — and it still
feels, from the inside, exactly the way Luis imagined
it would. Eso no se improvisa.
THE PEOPLE WHO SHOW UP EVERY DAY
Fifteen clinicians. One shared commitment.
Inspira's team was built with the same care that goes into every client relationship. Every clinician was chosen for their clinical credentials and their ability to meet people where they are — culturally, emotionally, and personally.
Together, they bring expertise across individual therapy, medication management, perinatal mental health, trauma, ADHD, grief, and more — all delivered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
