Te vemos · We See You
In our culture, becoming a mother is supposed to look a certain way.
Joy. Gratitude. Strength. That's the image of a woman who manages everything for her family, always present without a word of complaint, keeping her challenges to herself.
But when the journey of pregnancy or the early days of motherhood doesn't align with the ideal image—filled with anxiety rather than excitement, sadness instead of joy, or feeling a disconnect from the baby you've longed for—the initial response is frequently one of shame. "Something must be wrong with me. Other women handle this. Why can't I?"
"You are not failing at motherhood. You are carrying more than any one person should carry alone."
What you're experiencing has a name, and it has nothing to do with how much you love your child or how strong you are. Medically speaking, it’s what the brain and body go through during one of the hardest changes a woman can go through.
And at Inspira, you will never have to explain or justify why you need
support, you just have to show up.
El arco completo · The Full Arc
From pregnancy to
postpartum, we are with you throughout.
Perinatal mental health covers everything from the moment you find out you're pregnant to the months and years that follow birth. It's a window of life that asks more of a woman than almost anything else —physically, emotionally, relationally— and it's also a window that the mental health system has historically underserved.
At Inspira, we don't treat pregnancy and postpartum as two separate episodes. We understand the full arc and offer care that moves with you through all of it, adjusting as your needs change and staying consistent as your life transforms around you.
Our clinicians hold the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), a specialized credential that signals advanced training in the specific emotional and psychological challenges of this season. It means you are in the hands of someone who chose this work with intention.
During Pregnancy
Prenatal anxiety, depression, complicated feelings about
the pregnancy, or the emotional weight of a high-risk
situation. You deserve support from the very beginning.
After Birth
Postpartum depression and anxiety are far more common than most people talk about. Recognizing them is the first step. Getting support is the next one.
Through the Identity Shift
Becoming a mother changes who you are. Grieving a
former version of yourself while loving your child is not a
contradiction. It is a deeply human experience.
After Loss
Miscarriage, stillbirth, and infertility carry their own
particular grief. This is a space where that loss is taken
seriously and honored without minimization.
Lo que puedes estar viviendo · What You Might Be Experiencing
If any of this sounds familiar,
you are in the right place.
These are some of the most common experiences our perinatal therapists work
with. You don't need to check every box to deserve support.
Postpartum Depression
Persistent sadness, emotional numbness, difficulty bonding with your baby, or a sense that you are failing at something everyone else seems to do naturally. This is a medical condition, and it responds to treatment.
Perinatal Anxiety
Constant worry about the baby's health, your ability to be a good mother, or something going wrong. The kind of fear that follows you even on the good days and makes it hard to be present for the moments you've been waiting for.
Birth Trauma
A difficult or frightening birth experience can leave a mark that lasts far longer than the delivery room. Intrusive memories, heightened fear, or a deep need to avoid thinking about what happened are all signs that support would help.
Identity & Self-Loss
The woman you were before the baby feels far away. You love your child and still feel like something essential has been lost. Therapy gives you a place to grieve that honestly, without guilt and without pretending the feeling isn't real.
Relationship Strain
A new baby tests even the strongest partnerships. The shift in roles, the exhaustion, the unspoken resentments — these are worth addressing before they quietly become something harder to undo.
Pregnancy Loss & Grief
Miscarriage, stillbirth, and infertility are losses that our culture often rushes past. You deserve a space to grieve fully, in your own language, at your own pace, with someone who understands the weight of what you've been through.
Nuestro enfoque · Our Approach
Specialized care, held to a higher standard.
Every perinatal therapist at Inspira holds or is working toward the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), a credential issued by Postpartum Support International that requires advanced training in the clinical and cultural dimensions of maternal mental health. That certification matters because this season of life is specific. It carries its own clinical picture, its own cultural weight, and its own set of challenges that require more than general therapy training to address well.

Culturally Informed
Our providers understand what it means to come from a community where asking for help — especially psychiatric help — carries weight. You don't have to explain the context before they can help you.
Collaborative by
Nature
Your psychiatric provider works closely with your therapist when you see both at Inspira, so your care is consistent and your team is always aligned on your goals.
Patient-Led
No one at Inspira will push you toward medication. Your provider lays out the options clearly and honestly, and you are always part of the decision about your own care.
Clinically Excellent
Every psychiatric provider on our team brings evidence-based training and board-level credentials. Warmth and clinical rigor are not in tension here — we expect both.
